Tyrann Mathieu is a famous American soccer player who retired from his professional career with the Arizona Cardinals in 2013. Mathieu rose beyond his incomplete childhood to become a National Football League (NFL) star and shot his way towards greatness.

Born on May 13, 1992 in New Orleans, Louisiana, bully Devine Mathieu grew up with everyone else in the family except his birth parents. First with his grandparents, but later he was adopted by his uncle Tyrone Mathieu and aunt Sheila Mathieu after the death of his grandfather.

Raised in the city, Mathieu enrolled in St. Augustine High School, which is where his interest in sports was ignited. He both played football for the St. Augustine Purple Knights High School football team, ran track and was a member of the relay team.

Bully Mathieu graduated from high school with an impressive set of athletic records, including being among the top performers in the state in the long jump; Personal best jumps in both high jump (1.93 meters) and long jump (7.29 meters). In football, he was awarded four stars after having 32 tackles, a sack and five interceptions as a senior. In 2010, he was listed as the nation’s No. 13 cornerback.

Mathieu agrees to play for Louisiana State University on an athletic scholarship. He played college football for two seasons (2010-2011), during which he was the top defensive lineman of the 2011 Cotton Bowl Classic and the most valuable player of the 2011 SEC championship game.

However, his near-perfect start was shattered by a Heisman Trophy finalist after his October 19, 2011 violation of LSU’s drug policy. He ended the season on December 8, 2011 with the annual Chuck Bednarik Award.

The year 2012 was without active football for Mathieu. He announced his intention to enter the 2013 NFL draft and to participate in the annual Scouting Combine on February 26, 2013. Forecast as the third-best cornerback candidate, he was selected as the sixth safety in the third round (69th overall) by the Arizona Cardinals. He debuted in the Cardinals’ season opener with the St. Louis Rams and served as a backup free safety for the start of the regular game time.

Mathieu had his first taste of victory with the team in the fourth week of the 2013 season, followed by two more wins before tearing his left ACL and left LCL on December 8, 2013, keeping him on the injured reserve list and official ended his rookie season. While recovering from the injury, he missed training camp and was inactive for the Cardinals’ Week 1, 2014 season opener.

Tyrann joined the team in week 2 as a backup free safety and later the incipient free safety that led the cardinals to three victories (ww2,9 and 10) against their opponents. A thumb injury on November 30, 2014 kept him out of week 13–14 games until the end of the season.

The NFL star scored his first career touchdown in the game against the San Francisco 49ers on September 27, 2015, recording a career-high two interceptions in a game. He was also named to his first Pro Bowl after the season; was named a first-team All-Pro safety by the Associated Press and then ranked 28th on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2016.

The Arizona Cardinals renewed his contract for an additional five years on August 2, 2016, valued at $62.5 million. However, he missed most games of the season due to a shoulder injury he sustained in Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers. After struggling in two of the next six games of the season, officials placed him on the injured reserve list on December 23, 2016.

Mathieu started the 2017 season with the Cardinals, playing in 16 games with two interceptions and 78 total sacks. In all of his five seasons (2013-2017) with the franchise, he recorded 308 combined tackles (283 solos), 44 pass deflections, 12 interceptions, one failed recovery, and one touchdown in 66 games. He was quashed by the Cardinals on March 14, 2018 after refusing to accept a pay cut.
